Small details, held longer
Soft Relay pair a close vocal with bowed cello and a single synthesizer. They let a chord ring until the room quiets around it, then add the next note.
Their demo release Still Rooms was recorded with the players facing one another. The cello carries a melody as often as the voice; the synthesizer makes a low, uneven bed underneath.
A pause in the warehouse
Saturday’s set comes between the afternoon and late electronic program. It is a seated-or-standing listening set, with a few seats along the side wall. Talk to a steward if you need a seat or a clearer route through the room.
